Mileage run: Reflections of seven-city sleepover tour

Over the next seven days, I traveled from Columbus to Boston to Miami to Chicago to Minneapolis to Seattle to San Diego – without ever leaving the airport.

Plus, with fewer seats carrying skiers and snowboarders to the West and the dropping price of gas, it looks like a banner year for New England’s resorts that have their own special mountain magic and provide a far different experience from the resorts out west.

International Travel to US is up in 2008 versus travel in 2007

Guess this is a glass half-full versus the glass half-empty point of view. International travel in 2008 (until September) to the US was running ahead of the 2007 rates. But since these figures, the international economic collapse has blossomed. Worse, our incoming travel figures are still running behind 2001 pre-9/11.
